Nuptial room

When leaving the jewels room, you will find yourself in a long space with paintings on the wall representing wedding scenes and portraits of women wearing wedding dresses. This space announces the nuptial room and its embellishments which are ritual objects referring to wedding traditions. Indications about the bride’s toilet and diverse rites and accessories in relation with this important moment in life are exposed. The symbolism of these activities and the attention given to the least details show the importance of the spiritual dimension of the Djerbian society.
Thus, the nuptial room represents the last station in this itinerary. This last window on the Djerbian heritage refers to its typical architecture through the exposition of a parcel of its typical domestic space which is the dar, entity of the houch, the traditional Djerbian house.
